How to Handle Yourself When You Get Pulled Over

So you are driving down a highway and suddenly here sirens blaring. Out of nowhere, troopers pull up and orders you to pull over. This is not an uncommon situation in North America. Because of all-too common speeding and drunk driving, getting pulled over shouldn’t come as surprise.

It may sound normal when other drivers get pulled over, but the situation could become an absolute nightmare when you are the driver who gets pulled over. If it happens to you, reasonably or otherwise, you need to learn to handle yourself properly. Here are some tips:

Be Respectful to the Traffic Police

When you get pulled over, don’t’ question the police officer who does so. Losing your patience with a cop is never a good idea. It doesn’t matter whether you think you didn’t do anything wrong. Once the officer’s at your window, you must be as respectful as possible.

Do what the officer asks you to do. Don’t make any sudden movements and don’t give the indication of appearing uncooperative. If you think you are in serious trouble, particularly if you are a bit drunk, ask to call your Toronto DUI lawyers.

Don’t Panic

It’s really important not to panic when you get pulled over. People who panic do stupid things. You may react badly, cry, or throw a fuss that could turn a routine traffic stop into a disorderly conduct arrest. So keep your wits about you. Keep in mind that this is a situation that can easily be handled.

Pay Attention to What You are Being Charged with

There’s usually a reason for getting pulled over, which the office must tell you. If it’s speeding, you may receive either a warning or a ticket. If it’s the latter, it’s important to note that some speeding tickets contain errors. So take note of the speed limits and driving speed at the time. If you can spot a discrepancy, you can contest the ticket in court and have it dismissed.

Don’t Try To Be Your Own Lawyer

You may know something-something about local traffic laws. But don’t make that into an excuse to give the police a piece of your mind. If you want someone to argue your case expertly, hire Jeff Mass and Robbie Tsang criminal lawyers in Toronto and leave the job to them.

Understand that you can be under the influence even if you are sober. The influence part in DUI really refers to both alcohol and marijuana. Some drivers are not aware of this fact and may try to stubbornly insist they are not drunk. These are the type of situations that can result in a rather serious offence.

You can certainly ask the officer questions regarding why you were pulled over and what’s going to happen now. Just don’t try to be the know-it-all reciting the law books back to the officer. It will not end well for you.

In conclusion, remember to stay calm and not freak out when you are pulled over. Do cooperate with the police but know that you can contact legal representation anytime. They key is to behave well, and the routine traffic stop would go well for you.

How to Make Your Car Faster

Most car owners want to make their car faster for getting better performance and handling. A faster car will help you save commute time. You can use the additional time in pursuing your hobbies, NJ online casinos, indulging in leisure, watching your favorite sport, etc. The below-mentioned tips can help to make your car faster:

Reduce Unnecessary Weight

The most basic tip for making your car go faster is to reduce the unnecessary weight. The bulkier your car is, the slower it will be. You would have experienced that your car feels sluggish and less responsive when it is fully loaded. You can consider replacing the body panels with carbon fiber, change from glass windows to acrylic, remove seats, change traditional braking system to disc brakes, etc.

Upgrade Brakes

Making your car go faster is not only about greater acceleration and speed. You can consider upgrading your car’s brake to get better cornering speeds. Poor braking system does not let you accelerate evenly and you will remain off the throttle. If you are on a budget, you can consider getting better discs and brake pads for improving the car’s performance.

Upgrade Suspension

In order to get more acceleration and faster speeds, you can consider upgrading the suspension of your car. You can choose to fit a lowering kit. If you are on a tight budget, then you can opt for a set of lowering springs. However, opting for a full set springs and dampers can provide a better performance. Once upgraded, the suspension will stiffen the car which will lead to better response and handling.

Air Intake

Your car’s engine runs on a mixture of air and fuel. By providing more air, you can increase the power and make your car go faster. Installing cold air intake (CAI) increases the torque and horsepower. CAI is an aftermarket assembly which turn the pulled air cold and dense. The cold air mixes with fuel and produces more power through combustion. Air intake also lets your car breathe more freely and better.

Upgrade Exhaust

You can make modifications and upgrade your car’s exhaust. Aftermarket exhaust systems can be installed which can ease the flow of exhaust and reduce the engine restriction. This can lead to improved performance and makes your car faster. You can consider attaching a cat-back exhaust system behind the catalytic converter. A full exhaust system will provide the most significant performance gains. Installing a cat-back exhaust system is the minimum which you should do, as installing anything less than that will only increase the exhaust sound and not provide any significant performance improvement.

Use Suitable Tires

The additional power of your car won’t be of much use if you don’t use suitable tires which will provide good traction and braking performance. Good quality tires will not only provide you better traction on the road, they will improve your cornering speed and reduce braking distances. You can combine good quality tires with lightweight and sturdy alloy wheels to get the best performance and make your car go faster.

Increasing asset utilization, cornerstone of path towards high quality trucking

Refrigerated Trucks are one of the most critical assets in the road transport system. However, companies usually don’t spend time in evaluating what all types (Tonnages) of trucks are needed for their dispatches. Typically truck type selection and allocation is left on market availability and historical usage.

Further, transportation cost is determined by engaging party requesting for quote from multiple vendors and usually selecting the lowest value quote. Multiple variables that go in building the cost are often overlooked. The most critical ones include – truck load (efficient dispatching and scheduling), load size and variable costs.

Utilization can be increased by following a three pronged strategy:

• Reducing the overall number of kilometres driven by the fleet by eliminating wasteful driving created by empty running or underloaded trucks

• Reducing the cost of each remaining kilometre driven, primarily through improvements in fuel economy of trucks;

• And finally spreading the remaining, cheaper kilometres over a smaller overall trucking fleet, lowering total fixed costs such as depreciation, interest, insurance and driver wages

Among emerging economies India is no exception. In major manufacturing hubs such as China and Vietnam, small trucking firms reduce costs through illegal and dangerous operation of trucks (for e.g. overloading) like India,. These types of behaviour make it difficult for a firm working within the legal parameters. With recent revised axle weight norms, the government made a smart move, as it was happening anyway. This may bring down the existing overload issue. Our discussions with industry leaders suggests that small fleet operators have been impacted as efficiency gains from being able to carry more rated load per trip has been passed on through lower spot rates. However this is temporary and in long term the revision is welcome.

Efficient dispatch is the most important component to reducing empty running and a key factor in increasing utilization. With efficient dispatch a truck can get from a drop off to its next pick up point with a minimum of empty running and then pick up its freight and be on the way with minimum of wasted time. It is important to note however, that achieving scale in dispatch and scheduling need not necessarily be equivalent to large trucking fleets. For example, in the U.S., 90% of trucks belong to fleets of less than 10 vehicles, comparable to India where fleets of 5 trucks or less account for 75% of the market share and large fleet with more than 20 trucks have just 11% market share. In the US, small fleets and owner operators have gained efficiency in dispatch via third party logistics firms, which oftentimes own no physical assets, but can aggregate trucking capacity and achieve similar outcomes.

Issues of infrastructure, operational expertise and lack of enforcement reduce utilization. In the current situation in India, where utilization is low, a focus on minimizing fixed costs, by minimizing capital cost and fixed driver wages, is the highest priority. As utilization increases, variable costs increasingly dominate the cost structure. With greater utilization, investment in high quality and fuel efficient trucks operated by well-trained drivers becomes more compelling.

For distribution in the urban areas, vehicles having smaller loading capacities are required as demand is not consolidated and in a market like India with thousands of Kirana stores it’s very difficult to have an accurate forecasting. Thus for tuck operator higher utilization is also a factor of load size. Combination of high tonnage and low tonnage vehicles with expertise in operations, scheduling, forecasting and strategic planning is a must.

Managing above variables with significant level of expertise and availability of different type of assets for optimum utilization is must. This can only come into play when truck OEMs and third party logistics service providers or aggregators join hands to chart the path of high quality trucking together.

Audi officially brings the A6 Allroad back to America for 2020

Audi’s rugged A6 Allroad wagon will return to American shores in 2020 after a 15-year hiatus. The announcement ends months of rumors, black magic-laced tweets, and industry whisperings.

The Allroad will join the 600-horsepower RS 6 Avant as the second A6-based long-roof model in Audi’s American portfolio; it will also be sold alongside the smaller A4 Allroad. It’s an evolution of the A6 Avant, a model not (yet) earmarked for the United States, but it gains off-road-esque design accents like gray trim over the wheel arches and the rocker panels, an Allroad-specific grille, standard roof rails, plus what Audi calls an Alu-Optic finish on both bumpers.

The look draws inspiration from the original A6 Allroad introduced in 2000. Motorists who don’t like it — some feel unpainted trim makes a car look cheap — can ask for the gray bits to be painted in the same color as the body. 20-inch wheels come standard regardless of what the wheel arches look like, and the Allroad’s air suspension encourages drivers to get the alloys dirty.

While it won’t follow a Jeep Gladiator up the Rubicon Trail, the Allroad holds its own off the tarmac thanks in part to an adaptive air suspension that provides up to 7.3 inches of ground clearance when the driver dials in a profile called Lift. Alternatively, Dynamic mode lowers the suspension, tweaks the throttle response, makes the steering heavier, and tells the transmission to hold each gear longer. Audi configured several driving modes between these two extremes for everyday situations.

Speaking of gears, the 7-speed automatic receives 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque from a turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6 engine that works jointly with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The six’s output reaches all four wheels via Audi’s time-tested Quattro all-wheel drive technology. Audi hasn’t released performance specifications or fuel economy figures yet.

When it lands in showrooms, the 2020 Audi A6 Allroad will come standard will hill descent control, four-wheel steering, and a handy tilt angle assist that warns the driver if the car is at risk of tipping over. Ambient LED lighting, a dual-pane sunroof, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system are also included. Pricing information will be released closer to its on-sale date.

U.S. buyers in the market for a wagon don’t have many options to choose from. Mercedes-Benz doesn’t sell the E-Class All-Terrain in the United States, and BMW chose not to dip its toes in the segment with an SUV-ified 5 Series Touring, so the Allroad’s main rival on our shores will be the Volvo V90 Cross Country. The Swedes can brag about having never left the segment in the United States, but Audi will try to lure enthusiasts back into the fold by releasing a special Anniversary Edition model decked out with wood trim, stainless steel pedals, leather upholstery, contrast stitching, and a hue called Gavial Green that’s a tribute to the Highland Green offered on the first-generation Allroad.

Refrigerated trucks are modern day necessities. And these have made our lives better and easy as well. If you want know more details about the refrigerated van for sale near me, then please contact us in the comment section.

AM General’s war-ready Gladiator could re-enlist Jeep in the U.S. Army

AM General and Jeep unearthed long-buried ties to turn the Gladiator into a light tactical vehicle for the United States Army. The two companies unveiled a concept named Gladiator Extreme Military-Grade Truck (XMT) during the Annual Meeting and Exposition of the Association of the U.S. Army.

The Wrangler-derived Gladiator pickup is an excellent starting point from which to build a lightweight truck for the military, according to AM General. The off-road capacity required to trek through some of the most inhospitable topographies on the planet is already there. AM General explained it upgraded the truck with an array of existing and custom-made accessories, including special seats, bigger tires and a winch. These parts fit a Wrangler, too, but the Gladiator’s cargo box sealed the deal.

The bed allows the Gladiator XMT to perform a variety of duties; it’s even more versatile than the original Willys MB designed for World War II. It can transport soldiers, move up to 1,600 pounds of gear, or be outfitted as a mobile command and control center, among other configurations. The 1967-1969 M715 truck born from the original Jeep Gladiator was equally flexible.

AM General hasn’t released technical specifications. It merely pointed out the concept unveiled during the trade show runs on gasoline, but the military-spec model will also be available with a turbodiesel engine if it sees the light that awaits at the end of a production line. Jeep already announced it will add a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 to the palette of available engines in 2020.

What’s next for the Gladiator XMT, and whether Jeep returns to the front lines, depends on if the U.S. Army places an order for the truck — which would be the first American military use of what we would regard as a Jeep in decades. The CJ-5-based M38A1 was in production until 1971. And if the project receives the green light, it would mark the first time the two companies have worked together in decades as well. Production could begin in the second half of 2020.

While AM General is best known for making the Humvee, which famously spawned the civilian Hummer H1 released in 1992, it owes its existence to former Jeep parent company American Motors Corporation (AMC). AMC purchased Jeep from Kaiser in 1970 and split it in two the following year. The namesake brand continued making off-roaders like the Wagoneer and the CJ for the general public, while its military-oriented General Products Division morphed into AM General Corp. The rear-wheel-drive DJ van widely used by the United States Postal Service (USPS) was closely related to the CJ, but it was manufactured by AM General between 1971 and 1983.

Federal regulations preventing foreign nations from purchasing a stake in a defense contractor forced AMC to sell AM General to LTV Corporation in 1983 in order to accept a lifesaving investment from Renault, which was — and still is — partially controlled by the French government. This obscure link explains why Hummer and Jeep contentiously shared a similar-looking seven-slot grille.

Trouble finding a parking space?

TROUBLE finding a parking space? It’s a big problem in busy cities and it’s largely down to to poor management.

Parking is a problem even if you own a property in the city.

However, a car parking management system can help you find a parking spot, cutting out the frustration.

Parking management systems are made up of traveller real-time vehicle counting, payment processing, information systems, video surveillance and real-time parking guidance.

There are some advanced systems available that allow you reserve and pay for your parking spot.

Managing parking with limited resources calls for a variety of problems including haphazard, parking in someone else zone, parking, parking in no parking zone, cars moving in the wrong direction, no accurate data for empty slot and other issues.

There are parking management systems that come features such as:

  • In and Out count thanks to single camera
  • Detecting Unauthorised Parking
  • Prohibited parking detection for your car
  • Wrong way detection for vehicles
  • Premise available for cars
  • Camera wise report generation

The parking management system is designed to work with any environment and user requirements. Despite the size of your parking space, you need a management system that suits it best. Picking the right one makes sure you capitalise on full advantages.

When you have a tech that is tailored according to your needs, you can trust it will deliver results. I

t doesn’t matter whether you want to offer a vehicle owner information system or battery charging or hybrids, choosing the right system lets you meet these goals.

When you decide on a car park management system, you need to consider both the long term and short term objective.

You have to pick the right system for your needs. This doesn’t mean you have to go beyond your budget and overspend. Find a parking system that has easy to understand UI. This way, you won’t spend a lot of time learning how to use it.

If you are adapting the system on a commercial level, consider the money you will spend hiring a force and training it with the system, it can cost you dearly.

Let’s not forget the time and effort it will take to train yourself and make them well worse with the system. So when it comes to modern parking machines, spending time to find a system that comes with easy management, control, and regulations pay off.

A reliable system is capable of changing according to needs. For instance, if you’re expanding the car parking to for more people, the right system will always have room to change and grow.

One of the biggest advantages of a car parking management system is you can manage the space you have. A majority of parking problems experienced by drivers result from the bad use of available space.

If you have a reliable car parking system in place, it will guide these drives to a suitable parking space based on their needs.

One of the biggest challenges of parking is vehicle theft and installing an advantage car parking security system can help.

It puts in place different security measures to prevent unauthorised entry. This lowers the threats of theft, injury, and property damage – and helps to make your parking space secure. Investing in the right refrigerated trucks will help keep your cargo safe and avoid wasting your profits. Everybody wins!

How to check that you have the right van insurance

MOST of the time, most people will know if they have the right van insurance for them. However, it is always a good idea to make sure that you do have the right insurance policy for your van.

You might also find that there comes a time in your life where you simply misplace your documents or have even forgotten to renew them.

Don’t panic too much though, it can happen to anyone and can be easily fixed. It is important to note though that van insurance is a necessity, so try and keep on top of things if you can. If you are interested in checking out if you have the right insurance, then keep on reading for some helpful tips.

Who’s Doing the Driving?

In most cases, you will probably find that you are the sole driver. If you are over 25 then you fall naturally into the standard category of drivers. If it is just you who drives the van, then you don’t need to worry about doing anything.

Once you’ve sorted out the right insurance, the only thing you really need to think about is making sure that you can drive the van properly.

However, if you have a young apprentice who might get behind the wheel from time to time, then you need to make sure that this is included in your insurance. Even if they only get behind the wheel for one instance, you need to make sure that you have the right cover for such circumstances.

What do you Use your Van for?

This is an important thing when it comes to getting the right insurance for your van. Depending on what you actually use your van for, can be a huge difference for what sort of insurance you get.

For example, if you are a plumber or a gardener and you only use your van to transport your tools when you go and see different customers. Then you will need a different insurance cover to a courier company for example.

If you are a courier company, then because you are transporting other people’s goods, you will need to take out a different sort of insurance.

You might find that your insurance is slightly higher because of this. It’s really important that when you are getting insurance you state what your business is (and what you do) to make sure that you get the right insurance.

Where do you Drive your Van?

This is also another really important thing to be made aware of. The further you drive your van, the higher your insurance might be.

For example, if you are a gardener who only travels between local jobs then your insurance won’t be as high as someone who has to drive all over the country. If you are having to drive a longer distance to work, then your insurance company needs to know as there is a higher risk that you might have an accident.

If you are thinking of buying yourself a refrigerated van, then make sure that you do your research. Firstly, you want to make sure that you get the right refrigerated van that suits your needs and then you need to make sure that you have the right insurance.

2019 Mini Cooper JCW Knight Edition Drivers’ Notes | Drama in a tiny package

The Mini Cooper John Cooper Works Hardtop is the most performance you can buy in a Mini. More powerful JCW Clubmans and Countrymans are over the horizon, but those are much larger cars. A two-door hardtop with a hatchback is the traditional Mini shape, and we were thrilled to have a go in it.

Being the JCW, our tester was equipped with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. Those power figures aren’t tantalizing, but they’re enough to make this little car a real hoot to zip around town in. We also had the six-speed automatic, which costs $1,500 more than a manual — don’t worry, the automatic is still fun. After adding options and the all-important Knights Edition package, the sticker was up to $42,565. That is far more expensive than a lot of cars with more performance than what this little Mini has to offer. However, the Mini lifestyle is about more than just performance — customizability is huge, allowing you to personalize your brand-new car to a much higher degree than competitors. Additionally, there are only going to be 150 Knights Edition models made, so you’ll have a car that could be rather appealing to a Mini enthusiast in the future.

Road Test Editor Reese Counts: I love hot hatches. Even in the hatchback-averse American market, there’s a wide variety to choose from. There’s the tried-and-true Volkswagen Golf GTI (I used to own a MkV), its more powerful all-wheel-drive Golf R sibling, the unfortunately styled but extremely fun Honda Civic Type R, and the soon-to-be-extinct (if possibly already) European-American hybrid Ford Focus RS. Few cars at any price point are as consistently fun as hot hatches. Good ones are always eager to play, even putting around town.

The Mini Cooper JCW has always been one of the more wild of the bunch, a hopped-up version of the Cooper S that spits and pops and burbles like oil on a cast iron pan. Past models were for Mini enthusiasts that were willing to pay more for the most hardcore Cooper around. The current car debuted in 2015, and while I’ve driven a few current-gen Coopers, this is the first time I had a chance in a JCW. My complaints hold true — visibility isn’t great and it’s expensive for what you get — but it’s a hell of a lot of fun and not nearly as punishing as I expected. The ride was pretty compliant on Detroit’s moon-cratered streets, even with our tester’s 17-inch wheels. It was firm, sure, but not nearly as bad as I’d heard. I wouldn’t hesitate to daily one … if it were about $10,000 less expensive.

Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder:

To speak a little more on the ride, it reminds me of standard Coopers from the late aughts. It’s not uncomfortable, but It gets a bit chatty when you hit uneven pavement under lateral g forces. It feels slightly unstable, but super fun.

This JCW had a foam insert in one of the cupholders. Inside that was a little fob with a single button. Hold it down, and it puts the car into Track mode, which essentially makes the exhaust way more talkative. It’ll really crackle and pop. There’s a warning, though, that Track mode is reserved specifically for the track, and that “Use on public roads will invalidate vehicle approval.” I take that to mean it’s not up to emission standards, and I feel like nobody will heed that warning. It’s also kind of weird that it’s not actually attached to the car — it’s removable, and connects via Bluetooth.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the cupholders do not accommodate a full-size 32-ounce Nalgene water bottle.

Associate Editor Joel Stocksdale: I’ll quickly echo my colleagues opinions on the ride. It’s firm but certainly livable. I think if I were going to pick a Mini for fun and daily driving, though, I’d go with the regular Cooper S for its more comfortable suspension and still-respectable 189 horsepower. That, and it costs less: the base models of the S and JCW differ by a full $6,000.

On the subject of price, as well as performance, the JCW looks like a bad value. For the low $30,000 price tag, you only get performance that matches the much cheaper VW GTI, and much less power than both versions of the Veloster N. But having spent a weekend in this thing, I can still see why someone would pick it, and it’s because of its inherent playfulness. It’s a darty, twitchy little thing. The front dives for corners, and the tail wants to wiggle like a puppy’s tail. And despite only making 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, there’s a fair amount of torque steer compared with its rivals. All of this might not be beneficial for outright speed and cornering, but they make it a blast around town A little more front-end grip would be nice, though. Heavy throttle application in both straight lines and around corners would always result in a furiously flashing traction control light.

I love the exhaust on this car, too. I believe the reason the button for the flap is removable is so that you can attach it to your keychain if you want, thereby freeing up your cupholder. It’s a little bulky for that, but it’s possible. But it’s a lovely feeling button that feels a bit like a detonator, which is fitting considering the incredibly loud bangs that result from pressing it. While it says it’s for track use only, it seemed to be quiet enough you could use it on busy streets during the day. Your neighbors might be annoyed by it late at night or early in the morning, but that’s why you have the button, so you can switch it off as easily as you turn it on.

Assistant Editor Zac Palmer: I’ll echo what everyone else has said about how fun the JCW is to drive. It’ll rotate surprisingly easily when pushed, and it’s just fun to fling about in general. However, we had the JCW Knights Edition, which adds a whole bunch of stuff. Customization is core to what Mini is as a brand, and this particular fighter is a great example of that.

It’s amusingly easy to pick the car out in a parking lot (assuming it’s not shielded by massive trucks and SUVs) due to the black, silver and red color scheme. All Knights Editions get the black base coat paint with silver on the roof, mirrors and hood decal. Then there are some racy door decals and blacked out badging and exterior trim that looks the business. I think it makes for a perfectly immature car, which is only exacerbated by the constantly crackling exhaust that also comes standard on the Knights.

Is the extra cost for all the fun graphics and paint worth it? If you’re a Mini fanatic, it totally is. If you’re somebody who just wants a fun, fast hatch, go with a standard JCW or anything else in the competitive set. Or better yet, take a spin through Mini’s configurator and customize one yourself. Nobody else offers this level of customizability at the price point that Mini sells its cars, and the Knights Edition is just a great example of what you could ultimately do.

‘90s-Themed Ram Truck Is As Cool As A Paper Cup

It’s for sale, too.

The Southside Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram & RV Centre in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, has created a cool 1990s throwback look for a custom Ram 1500. The streaky turquoise-and-purple color scheme comes straight off the ubiquitous fountain drink cups. The dealer even made a promo video with a VHS aesthetic to promote the colorful truck.

With bad video tracking, a blocky typeface, and pumping dance music, the clip taps into the 90s nostalgia that’s a major trend of the moment. In addition to the streaky graphics, the truck also wears white-painted wheels, which is a touch that perfectly fits the decade’s aesthetic.

The truck is actually for sale if any Canadian readers want a modern truck with a 1990s look. It’s a 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn with a Crew Cab body and has options like Big Horn Level 2 Equipment Group, Premium Lighting Group, and 8.4-inch infotainment system with navigation. The pickup has an MSRP of $69,753 CAD, but the listing online shows $10,000 in available incentives, taking the figure down to $59,753 CAD, which is equal to $45,021 USD at current exchange rates.

Dealers Are Getting Creative By Building Retro-Inspired Trucks:

This streaky pattern is called Jazz. Gina Ekiss came up with the design, according to a Huffington Post story. She worked at the Sweetheart Cup Company when the business held an internal design competition in 1989. Ekiss submitted several ideas, including the turquoise-and-purple combination that has become so famous. The Solo Cup Company later acquired Sweetheart and kept the look in production.
